Stefan reunites with his family to celebrate his grandmother’s birthday for the first time after his mother’s recent passing. This homecoming, driven by his urge to complete a film about his mother and an attempt to make amends by rescuing a stray dog, will ignite an introspective journey for Stefan.
Stefan Djordjevic (born 1987 in Bor, Serbia) discovered filmmaking through his role in Nikola Lezaic’s debut feature Tilva Rosh (Locarno, 2010), where he played one of the leads. The film was nominated for the 2011 European Film Awards in the European Discovery – Prix FIPRESCI category for Best First Feature.
He earned his MA from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, specializing in cinematography. His graduation film, A Handful of Stones (2017), premiered internationally in the ACID program at the Cannes Film Festival.
His short film The Last Image of Father (2019) debuted at Locarno, where it won the Young Jury Award before going on to receive the Heart of Sarajevo for Best Short Film.
His latest short documentary, Portrait of a Dying Giant (2023), was featured in the Serbian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale of Architecture.
